Assessment Outcomes.
Following the On Road Assessment your Occupational Therapist will discuss the results and any recommendations regarding your licencing status. Which may result in:
- Maintaining your current licence status.
- Recommending driving lessons/remediation to increase driving safety and capacity, prior to licence reinstatement.
- Modification of licence conditions. For example recommending the cessation of motorway or night driving.
- Modification of licence status. Recommending appropriate vehicle modifications or driving aids, such as a spinner knob or left foot accelerator and driving lessons with these driving aids to master them. In addition to driving lessons with these driving aids to master them.
- Downgrading your licence to a Class C automatic licence. No longer permitting manual transmission driving.
- Suspension of your licence to enable further medical recovery. This can be common following a Cerebral Vascular Attack/Stroke.
- In rare cases, cancellation of your driver’s licence. This is a decision that involves the Occupational Therapist, your General Practitioner and the Department of Transport.
In addition to the recommendations provided on the day of the assessment, your Occupational Therapist will complete and send a comprehensive report outlining the results and recommendations from the Off Road and On Road Assessment. This report will be sent to your referring General Practitioner and or Specialist and the Transport Authority in your State.
